1. What is GPS?

GPS (Global Positioning System) is a constellation of satellites orbiting the earth. A GPS receiver can determine it's coordinates anywhere on the face of the earth as long as it has a clear view of the sky. Our software uses this coordinate information to show the location on a digital map and also to determine a driving route to a destination.

2. What is dynamic routing?

Dynamic routing is the calculation required to determine the drive movements necessary to arrive at a destinationg. The digital maps used in some of our products contain street information such as turn restrictions, one-way direction and speed limits that allows our software to accurate provide driving directions.

3. How often is the map data updated?

In general, we release 2 map upgrades every 6-8 months. Please check under our "support" section

4. Do I have to pay a monthly fee for the services?

No. There is no monthly subscription fee to use GPS. However, if you want to get the most current map as existing customer, you may purchase the new map at a discounted upgrade price.

5. Will it work indoors?

No. GPS receivers require a view of the sky to receive the necessary signals from the satellites. Similarly, GPS will not work in a tunnel or under a freeway overpass, unless you have additional sensors such as compass, gyro, speed sensors, etc.

6. Can someone track me with it?

No. People cannot track your movements. However, if you record a track, the track file will indicate your movement. If you do not wish other to know past locations, do not share the track files.

7. What areas do the maps cover?

The maps cover most areas of the United States (excluding Alaska) and Canada.

8. Will it work in another country? Canada, Mexico, Japan, England for example?

Although your GPS receiver can provide positional coordinate for the earth's surface as long as the receiver has a clear view of the sky (and the GPS satellites), maps, navigation and routing are only provided in United States, Canada, and/or within the map coverage areas.
